FIND YOUR VOICE

Everyone has a voice, find it, then find a platform to express it... Many may not want to listen, many may not even believe in you Some will try to subdue your voice Still, find your voice, At times situations may mute you Still find a way to your voice Find your voice and speak your message when it's true, not only will they listen, they will amplify it... ALL YOU NEED IS ONE MIC!

TRY AGAIN!

Image
Like a deadly hurricane  The stranger came And stole your soul away So broken you can't pray All you feel now is pain After losing all you consider gain Where do you go from here All that's yours is far not near Promise gone The day's dawn You can't change the past So you need to rise up fast All you've got is a fighting chance All you can exert is a single glance You've got only one shot There's only one spot You're left with no support All you have is your effort Before today is gone To where yesterday's l on Let it truly and surely be known That you did your best on your own So when posterity ask You can sigh; you did your task. (Dedicated to all who lost something, someone and self believe to push one more time #TryAgain) Written By: Seth Ogungbe' @sethorunzi 19.02.2015

AFCON 2013; He Stoops to Conquer

Image
The AFCON 2013 ended with the erstwhile "Super Chicken" now Super Eagles crowned as the new African Champions... A victory that ended a 19 year wait. A tournament filled with different strides, passion and turn around moments. A victory that will be celebrated for a long time to come. Some blamed the coach for dropping some players... For me, that's guts. Keshi played inexperienced and local based players... Now that's faith. He kept pushing his team when the fans at home crucified them that's believe. Sunday Mba scored 2 vital goals on Sundays... That's determination and brilliance. The team stock together to fight... That's the Nigerian spirit. But as we celebrate winning the AFCON, it's important not to forget the lessons... For me, apart from the team and the coach, one player should be celebrated more and specially, because he forgave us of our trespasses... He obeyed the clarion call to play for the country that wasn't there for him whe...

The Rollercoaster track

Life appears to all with different faces Sometimes with a smile or with a frown We go through it in different phases We yo-yo bounce up and down like a clown She embraces us all, irrespective of our races We call it ebony or black, sometimes White or brown   A few strive to attain- while others stir their gazes  Trying to make a meaning of life in a whole town We sometimes fall but we can't resign to despair  Irrespective of our challenges we try to climb high ‘Coz If we don't- down we glide without hope of repair With hope, faith and grace we look up to the Most high. With our clinched fist we fight Looking at issues we freight With lost courage we take flight With determination we get insight With passion we get out of sight In this life's darkness we look for light Travails eclipse out shred of sunlight We hang on to God to hear our plight Hoping that someday heaven will shine the light Written By: Seth Ogungbemi

...THEN YOU WILL BE GOOD ENOUGH

Image
Growing up like other kids, we like you had different thoughts and many aims and ambitions. We had dreams of many things we would love to turn out to be. Even though we never know how we will get there but one thing we knew was that we want to be what we envisioned ourselves to be. Most times we tilted our ambitions or plan as the days went by and we grew up. But ultimately we wanted to be successful and flawless. We wanted to be as good as it gets and be good enough for all to see. In our minds we flew jets, traveled all over the world, walked on the moon, stood in front of millions to talk, sing or preach, we were signing autographs, became the huge successful singer or the irreplaceable actor, great and convincing  preacher, we owned more than we probably would need for ten generations. We smiled why fans cheered, took a bow when others screamed their lungs out. Camera lights flashing, paparazzi struggling to get a piece of us. Strive to be better and much more good ...

IT’S ALMOST MIDNIGHT…

Image
It’s almost Midnight, a few more strike on the clock…several amplified tick-tack, tickling and freckling the very fiber connected to every muscle attached to the ossicle bones of our ears. It’s almost Midnight, that time that defines the fate of our Cinderellic odyssey with luck and fortunes running out, fear replaces fantasy. It’s almost Midnight… Our Cinderella must retreat to bed and wake up to reality. The grace and elated boom of the moments before are replaced with the solitary gaze and gloom. It’s almost Midnight, the very moments that defines our true existence and tests the resolve of our ingenious and artistic depth. The time that explains how much we had lived and how few or much we may have achieved and remind us how far we are to the mark as we are faced with a startled gaze of reality. It’s almost midnight that moment when all activities swiftly are paused and rewind to undo- freezed and we can only look forward to confronting our realism like a free flowi...

Half Time-Team Talk

Image
Games are not always won and lost in the first half There can always be a come back in the second half Sometimes the result of the first half is overwhelming The gulf of difference in score line could be disheartening The chance of staging a comeback quite slim and tasking The fight for restoration and superseding it is exasperating Six months gone bye but another set of six come near We hope, fight and do all but not resign to despair and fear As we look up, watch out and throw in some brave fight We are faced with many memories but we fight like a Knight As the grip of anxiety stick us like a nightmare at night But as a true knight we can only battle on with all our might Where did we fail, what has been our strength and weakness? We may be down but not out –we have a whole half to show our greatness Like Peak- it’s in you, like Guinness there is a drop of greatness in you Like an eagle we defile both gravity and the Condor and come up too We can just push our selves ...

FIGHTING CHANCE

Image
‘In the presence of adversity, some people buy crutches while others grow wings’ We are sometimes faced with some of the most excruciating and frustrating situations in life where we are caught up in making crucial decisions, which most often than none tends towards giving up. We throw in the towel- we cry and wail- say the good byes- burry our head in shame- rue our chances- toss the blames- breakdown and moan and sometimes mourn- reflect and regret- crash and shot down and out! Once there were four lepers excommunicated from the companionship of their people as stated by the constitution of their city. These four lepers felt nothing than that they have been used and abused, dejected, rejected and of course ejected from the community the once called family and friend. Fours lepers who once reside within the comfort of the city walls now live within the anguishing enclave of caves outside the city gates with all source of food and placate denied. These lepers had nothing to live...

FUMBLING FORWARD

Break down. We do all but break down. Just suffered a gory -sorry–hurry- surreal break-up but do we breakdown? Hopes are high up, but dashed in split seconds. Trust betrayed, even the best man shows us his worst instinct. Promise made and failed. We try to show our courage but a strolling stream of cold water in a moment puts out the heat of fire on our young growing fire of valor, hence, the last form of our courage in a flung flying flint of fire is put to senile-rest- discouragement! What do we do? Breakdown! Give up. That’s what we are left to do, when in our entire life endeavor all we get as a feedback is failure, hope lost. Chances missed. Opportunities squandered. Faith-fainting and fading away. Strength becomes frail. Family disserted. Honor re-bounds, hence, integrity lost. Heroes turn villains and villains –heroes. We run out of options and resign to despair! In all life seems to hold nothing but an appointment with death. Stalled to a halt. Saddled with a feeling of g...

LAST OF TWELVE ROUNDS

With each days running into weeks and into months We had up and downs in obstacles we had to surmount With each stride we strife With faith we live life With our hearts high up we run the race Almost over we aim at the tape to embrace Some of our dreams not yet achieved With so many others still conceived But yet we dare to try and believe For a better ending we’ll receive With eleven down and just one left our anxieties are up But there is still all to fight for in the last, so we brace- up The hour before our anticipated dawn is always the darkest But after the rains and flood, the rainbow is surely at its brightest (This simple sonnet is dedicated to all for a fruitful year ending and a happy new month of December) Written By: Seth Ogungbemi
