This quote is saying that the people who write the history are bias. The people who record history make themselves sound like the “good guys”. Therefore, the lions will be portrayed as the “bad guys”.
Since the Europeans recorded their history before the people of Africa, they will be potrayed as better than the Africans. The things that the Europeans do to the Africans will be considered good things, trying to help him.

Lions stand for the natives, while the hunters stand for for the european conquerers. This quote means that until the natives’ point of view is a part of history, the european point of view will be the one that is counted as accurate. If no one documents what it was like for the natives, then only the european people’s feelings about what happened will be considered. Until someone speaks for the natives, their voices will never be heard. If no one sees through the eyes of the natives, only the whites will be thought of as right.
